A Powerball ticket from Frazier Park, California, clinched the massive $1.73 billion jackpot on Wednesday. This win ranks as the game’s second-largest.
Someone chose the lucky numbers 22, 24, 40, 52, 64, and the Powerball 10. Frazier Park, a small spot in Kern County, sold the ticket.
The jackpot had grown since mid-July. Another Californian in Los Angeles claimed the previous significant win of $1.08 billion.
A Californian set the record Powerball jackpot at $2.04 billion in November 2022. The odds of winning stand at 1 in 292.2 million.
Winners can opt for a 30-year payout. But many prefer a one-time cash sum. This draw’s cash choice is around $756.6 million before tax.
People play Powerball in 45 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Its massive prizes and slim odds attract many players.
