The Seward Elks are proud to offer the youth of our community an opportunity to participate in a fun event that stresses healthy recreation and lifestyles.
5:30 PM Wednesday August 18th, The Seward Elks Lodge will be sponsoring the Annual Elks Soccer Shoot. The event is open to all children from ages 4-13 and is FREE!! This year the event will take place at the Elementary School Soccer Field.
This event is being sponsored by the Elks with the assistance of Seward Parks and Recreation, but children DO NOT have to be a participant in the SPRD Soccer Program to participate. Soccer League participants are invited to come to the end of season BBQ to coincide with the Soccer Shoot.
Participants in the Soccer Shoot have to shoot a regular youth sized soccer ball into a smaller than regular goal from a specific distance depending on their age. Door prizes will be awarded.
The Seward Elks Lodge is a Community Service and Fraternal Organization that has been active in Seward for more than 65 years. For more information about the Elks, ask a friend who is a member, stop by our club at 419 5th Avenue on Wednesday, Friday or Saturday nights, or call the Lodge 224-3158. The Seward Youth Soccer League sponsored by F/V Chandalar will run Monday & Wednesday evenings (5:30 or 6:30) July 12th through August 18th at the Elementary School soccer field. Last day of soccer will coincide with the annual Seward Elks Soccer Shoot! Fee is $35 and includes a full uniform. YOUTH COACHES NEEDED! Especially for ages 6-12. Kick off another great season of youth soccer at SPRDs Soccer Play Day. Kids ages 4-12 are invited to learn drills, go through skill stations and play games in this FREE event! Soccer Play Day is a great introduction to the sport and a great refresher for the soccer league veterans! Pay the Early Bird fee and get the best rates for the league: $25 by June 14th.

From the Grand Lodge of Elks – About the Soccer Shoot
Soccer is one of the fastest growing youth activities in the country. The Elks Soccer Shoot Program is geared to coincide with this sport phenomenon. From toddlers to teens, in our large urban centers to our small suburban settings, soccer is becoming the sport of choice for our youth. This program is under the umbrella of the Grand Lodge Youth Activities Committee. We want to capitalize on this sporting event to help keep our youth focused and away from undesirable activities.
The Elks Soccer Shoot program is a Three Goal Contest and consists of a series of three goals, decreasing in size from 48 inches to 17 inches. The age groups that use these goals are divided into two categories, U-5 contains ages four and five, U-7 contains ages six and seven and U-9 group contains ages eight and nine. The contest is open to boys and girls who shoot separately. The U-5 contestants kick from 15 feet from the face of the goal, while the U-7 and U-9 contestants kick from 18 feet from the goal. The Elks Soccer Shoot Program is a terrific program for our youth, the future of our country. ELKS SOCCER SHOOT, ITS A KICK.
