I ve been asked by the folks at epicurious.com to help spread the word about the 2014 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. This was the recipe contest for kids that Rowan and I took part in last summer. It was an unbelievable experience. If the ideas of eating and cooking healthy foods for kids wasn’t enough, the first lady hosted a state dinner at the white house for all the winners. It was truly a Willy Wonka experience. There will be an Ocean Themed Art Show Reception at the Rae Building TOMORROW: Friday, February 28th, 7-9 pm An Award Ceremony will take place at 8 and refreshments will be served!  This show will feature art from Seward High Students as well as students from all over the state.  Come check it out, it should be great and will be up for the entire month of March.  If you have a child in an Art Class at Seward High they probably have a piece in the show.  Hope to see you there! “Fishing” by Diana German featured above.

The Phoenix Chapter of the Alaska State Firefighters Association would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many local businesses that donated to support our dinner cruise and auction on Saturday, August 25.  The Phoenix Chapter is a combined effort of Bear Creek, Moose Pass and Seward Fire Departments, and Seward Volunteer Ambulance Corps, in a joint association to provide advanced training and education for our emergency responders. Seward High Art – Triptych Collages

Seward High Art students created new scenes out of old photos.  For inspiration, students viewed the Abberant Art of Barry Kite.  Kite is a contemporary artists who mainly reworks art history classics by cutting them up and combining them in humorous ways.  Students also viewed triptych artwork from the past and were asked to make their collages in triptych form.  Thanks to the Seward Library for donating encyclopedias and magazines. 1. This little pug mix was rescued on May 5th by the awesome maintenance staff at the Windsong Lodge. She was stranded on a sand bar in the middle of the Resurrection River. She has a blue collar. If this sweet little dog belongs to you please call Erik at 491-0173 or 224-6533 ext 2225.

The Seward Legislative Information Office has moved to SeaView Plaza, 302 Railway Ave., into the offices where the Phoenix Log used to be. The office hours are 8 AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.
