ROCKWELL KENT WILDERNESS CENTENNIAL JOURNAL

This week — 100 years ago on August 24th — Rockwell Kent and his eight-year-old son arrived in Seward. The next day he “discovered” Fox Island and decided to settle there for the winter. Beginning in late July I began a Facebook page shadowing Kent and his son as they left New York and took a train to Montreal where they boarded the Canadian Pacific Railway to Vancouver. So far I’ve followed them up the Inside Passage aboard the Admiral Schley to Yakatut. This week they arrive in Seward aboard the Admiral Farragut. You can access the Facebook page by going to Facebook and doing a search using the title of this post. Thanks to help from Rhonda Bohart, I now have a regular webpage for those who don’t do Facebook. You can access that from the link below. If you decide to follow the Kent journey, I suggest you go to to one of the websites and begin with the first post.
