Thundering waterfall

The big storm last night and heavy rainfall turned Lowell Creek into a raging, brown monster full of gravel, rocks, and boulders. Once again, Seward Public Works is hard at work removing the buildup from above, under and below the Lowell Creek bridge.

Public Works Director Doug Schoessler requests that both pedestrians and vehicles exercise great caution while passing through this area, and to minimize use of this area. Also be aware of and alert for falling rocks and slides from the rain-saturated steep slopes along Lowell Point Road.

A Flood Advisory is also in effect from the National Weather Service until Tuesday afternoon for the Resurrection River, small streams, and low lying and other flood prone areas. The Weather Service advises, “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
