City Council Vacancy

The Seward City Council is seeking applications from city residents interested in serving on the City Council.  One seat has become available with the resignation of Council Member Erik Slater which was accepted by City Council at the May 29, 2018 meeting. The term of this seat expires in October, 2018.

The qualifications to serve are you must be an elector of the city and shall have resided within the city continuously for a period of not less than one year immediately preceding the date of filing.


The Council meets regularly on the second and fourth Monday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers and at such other times as may be requested by the Mayor, Council, or Administration.

Application forms are available in the Office of the City Clerk.  Completed application forms and financial disclosure/conflict of interest statements must be filed with the Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018.  Applicants will also be asked to produce a written cover letter regarding their qualifications and interest in serving on the Council.  The City Council will consider selecting an applicant who will serve until the next regular city election in October, 2018 at their regularly scheduled meeting on June 25, 2018.
