Iditarod Trail is topic of March 22 program

This month’s “Fourth Thursdays: Our History” program at the Seward Community Library Museum on Thursday, March 22 will feature Lee Poleske, historian and former director of the Seward Museum. For his 7 pm program, Poleske will look into the various ways people utilized the Iditarod Trail during the summer months. Surprisingly, not all who traveled the trail were dog teams mushing through the snow.

As a special bonus, Poleske will also line out the history of the All Alaska Sweepstakes sled dog race, a competition that had its inaugural run early in the last century.

The program in the Community Room is free and open to the public. Resurrection Bay Historical Society sponsors the monthly “Fourth Thursdays” series.
