Kenai Crewsers Rowing Club has created a new, improved, and shortened version of the Iditarow! We are now hosting the I-did-a-ROW-a-thon. This event will be held Friday March 9th 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. through Saturday March 10th 8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.
White Mountain to Nome: 77 Miles or 124,000 meters in 13 Hours!
Ten Teams of 5 rowers
$100 per team entry fee
Training will be provided on Friday from 5-6 pm for those that have not rowed before.
Each team needs 5 rowers. Each team will row 124,000 meters (77 miles – The same distance from White Mountain to Nome). Rowers will switch every 1000 meters. After each 1000 meters you will be required to record your time. Entire team must row before repeating. An overnight rest will be taken from 10:00 p.m. Friday until at least 8:00 a.m. Saturday, with an additional mandatory 1 hour rest on 3/10/18 anytime after the first two hours.
Periodic checks will be made through out the event.
Individuals: Water Bottle, a piece of fruit, protein bar, a small towel and Emergency Contact Information. (needed at the start of each day).
Team: Yoga mat (for stretching), First Aid kit (for blisters), Sleeping bag and Pillow (for resting), Camp Chair (for resting) Flashlight, extra snacks, Hand Sanitizer (wipes are best!).
What we will provide
KCRC will provide each team with an Erg (rowing machine) and a tracker. We will also have a H2O station and healthy snacks available. Supervision during event, babysitters if needed, Music and Prizes!!!!!!
