Breakfast with Santa was a huge success, thank you Rotary Club for the awesome breakfast, the Seward Senior Center for the perfect venue, TYC and Teen Rec Room Councils, Morgan & Andra Woodard (Santa and Mrs. Claus). Happy Holidays!

Racquetball League Fall season came to a close Tue, Dec 19th Congrats Al Plan who took 1st Place and Tim Shearer coming in a close 2nd and Fred Georges taking 3rd.Co-Ed Volleyball Clinic Fri, Jan 12th @ AVTEC Gym  – Skills clinic mixed with practice scrimmages, led by Coach Kim Killion we’ll start at 6 pm and go to 9pm. Ages 16 and up $5 drop in fee. Basketball League is right around the corner, pay by Sat, Dec 17th for the best rate on player and team fees!  Seward Archery League

Winter Session: Jan 10 – Feb 22 at the Alaska Railroad Terminal. Grab your bow & arrows and come down to the Alaska Railroad Terminal for target practice and to compete with other archers. Bring your own equipment or some can be made available.  Bows should be 70lbs and lower. NO crossbows!  League is open to 16yrs and up (16 & 17 yr. olds welcome with an adult).

2018 Urbach’s Youth Basketball League 

Kick off the season with a free basketball Jamboree Sat, Jan 13th! Players will meet the coaches, go through drill stations, work on skill development and scrimmage. League begins Feb 3rd through Apr 7th for pre-school ages through 5th grade. Early bird fee due Dec 23rd, sign up by Dec 30th to receive a complimentary team jersey.

Teen & Youth Center (TYC)

TYC After School Program- Join us for activities involving team sports, nature and outdoors activities, STEM programs, baking, crafts and more. We are a recreation based program designed to stimulate Elementary age kids physically, mentally and emotionally. Join us for a fun filled afternoon Monday– Friday 3:15-5:30. Bus 3 will get you here. Schools Out Day Camp on December 22, Camp is open to kids in K-5 from 7:45-5:30pm. The registration fee is $25 per day per. Discount rates are available for those who qualify.

Winter Break Camps- December 26-30 and January 2-5. TYC day camp will be playing outside, with nature walks, campfires, skating and sledding. We will swim Tuesday and Thursdays as well. Expect your child to be stimulated not only physically but mentally as well as we explore STEM learning projects throughout the weeks of camp. Seward Community Foundation supports the STEM learning program through grants given to train staff and purchase supplies for these very cool projects. TYC will send your child home Dirty, Tired and Hungry from the fun filled activities of each day. Sign up NOW! TYC Council Is gearing up for Kids Carnival on January 27th. This years’ theme is Superheroes. Where a costume of your favorite Super hero as you play the carnival games and win some fun prizes. The Carnival will be held at AVTEC Gym from 2-4pm Saturday Jan 27th (Polar Bear Jump Day).  The Carnival is geared toward kids ages 1-8 yrs old. Proceeds go to the Teen Councils.

Teen Rec Room

The Teen Rec Room located at 336 3rd Ave between the Senior Center & TYC, the Teen Rec Room hours: for Middle School & High School Students – Tuesday – Thursday 2:30 – 9pm Friday 2:30 – 10pm, Saturdays 5 to 10pm. There is a $5 for the 2017-18 school year, offering ping pong, Skee ball, computers, Xbox, pool tables and more. Only participants with signed waiver/releases are welcomed to join teen Rec Room (TRR) or Teen & Youth Center (TYC) programs and activities. We thank you for your cooperation. Please ask staff to review if you are unsure if you have a current waiver on file. Waivers are available at all Parks & Rec sites and online at We are active; we play hard, so we need your waiver/release. SPRD staff is happy to assist families in completing waiver/releases.”
