 TYC Halloween Carnival Press Release

Seward’s Halloween Carnival was a huge success, raising over $7,000 for clubs and groups! Hundreds of participants enjoyed 20 booths offering games, activities, prizes and yummy things to eat. Joining the Carnival this year was Boys and Girls Club with sweet treats, Daisy Meyers with Tarot Card reading, PEO hosted Bowling Pumpkins, and the Police Association brought in the Tricycle Obstacle Course with ‘drunk driving goggles.’ Other big hits included the teen Rec Room’s Hillbilly Havoc, a challenging obstacle course and the Smoke Mazes from the Seward Volunteer Fire Department. The Seward Boosters brought back the Halloween Costume Contest, and also provided wonderful hot and cold dinners for all the carnival attendees. The American Legion and Chinooks donated the great food to the Boosters. Special thanks to our community volunteers who work so hard to make this event happen. Hearty thanks to the organizers: Teen & Youth Center (TYC) Councils, Sports & Rec staff, and Seward’s Boosters Club, an all-volunteer organization. Special thanks to Petro Marine for their safety, light-up bracelets, Essential One, Safeway and Seward Market Place for their donations as well. Seward Parks & Recreation Department encourages the community to remember to thank the Alaska Railroad for the use of the Dale R. Lindsey Intermodal facility. A very special thanks to Dependable Janitor for donating the final cleanup for this community event.  What a treat it is to enjoy a cold, Halloween night indoors a safe, warm, spacious place where we can all be together as one community.

Glacier Family Medicine Pumpkin Prowl

The Glacier Family Medicine Pumpkin Prowl was held on Saturday October 28 at the Forest Acres Park.  Seward families gathered to hunt mini pumpkins in the dark and find the treasured candy and prizes hidden by the “Great Pumpkin” assisted by the Teen Council Members. With 1,250 pumpkins hidden there was more than enough for all the children to find 10 pumpkins. The families enjoyed hot coco and marshmallows under the starry night, before heading across the street to enjoy the music of the Family Masquerade Ball. Once again the Pumpkin Prowl would not be possible without the assistance of volunteers from the Teen & Youth Center (TYC) Councils, and our dependable, long-time sponsors Glacier Family Medicine, Seward Parks & Recreation and Seward Resort. Thank you, too, to Seward Polar Bear Festival for the healthy snacks at the Masquerade Ball.

Family Masquerade Ball Letter of thanks!
