Seward Community Foundation Grant Highlight: Seaview Community Services Evergreen Group Home

SeaView Community Services received a competitive grant of $3,000 to purchase new furniture for the residents of the Evergreen Group Home.  The home meets the needs for community members who need 24/7 behavioral support.  The group home setting provides support for up to seven residents and is also a gathering place for other community clients who live off-site. The goal of this project is to create a comfortable space for residents to relax, enjoy meals together, engage in activities, and entertain visitors. The Group Home residents host holiday parties, movie night, sports night, birthdays, barbeques, and other special occasions where these other community members, families, and staff are invited.  This grant funding replaced worn furniture in the living and dining rooms, and provided furniture for a sitting area and a cabinet for storage.

Mel Nobles, SeaView’s Director of Disability Services, expressed their gratitude for the grant,  “Our agency, as well as the individuals we serve, are very appreciative of the support of the Seward Community Foundation.  This furniture has been a blessing to the home. As I was taking these photos, I even had two of the ladies we serve tell me to tell you thank you and that they had really enjoyed the furniture.”

Funding for this grant came from the Seward Community Foundation Unrestricted Fund and the City of Seward Unrestricted Fund.
