Top Energy Researchers and Organizations Presenting at Seward Energy Forum and Fair

Speakers from several of the top statewide energy agencies and businesses will be presenting updates and educational talks free for the general public on renewable energy and energy efficiency this Friday and Saturday at the fourth annual Seward Energy Forum and Fair.  Representatives from the Alaska Energy Authority, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, USDA – Rural Development State Office, Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP), Alaska Center of Energy and Power (ACEP), Homer Electric Association, The Comforts of Home and Your Clean Energy will be presenting throughout this two day event. Presentation topics will be of interest for home and business owners alike, ranging from renewable energy solutions for residential living, to improving energy efficiency in the day-to-day operations of small enterprises. Exhibitors, including Alaska Efficient Energy Solutions, Northern Energy Technology, Susitna Energy Systems, and The Comforts of Home, LLC. will also be on hand sharing product information on renewable energy systems, energy efficiency educational material, and to answer general questions. At the end of Friday, a tour is being offered to learn about the Alaska Sealife Center’s new CO2 Heat pump. Sign up is required due to limited space available.

The City of Seward, the Seward Sustainable Energy Group,  AVTEC and the Seward Chamber of Commerce are the hosts of this event,  which is currently the only sustainable energy conference and fair being held on the Kenai Peninsula.  Talks will be held at the AVTEC Student Service Center Auditorium from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturday.  Prior to the talks on Saturday, the Seward Energy Science Contest Challenge will take place in the AVTEC Gym,  featuring projects submitted from middle  and high school students, competing for over $4000 scholarship funding.  Throughout the two day event, a Kenai Peninsula Borough wide Sustainable Energy Student Art Contest will also be occurring for attendees to view and vote on, with awards going towards the top two placements for elementary, middle and high school students.
