The Mayor’s Cup Race is Back!

After three years of no snow that cancelled Cups, the Seward Iditarod Trail Blazers are pleased to invite the community to attend the 19th Mayor’s Cup Race.

Cheer the mushers and enjoy a community bonfire with free hotdogs and hot drinks on Saturday, April 1st at Seavey’s Corner on Old Exit Glacier Road. Mushers will pick up their bibs starting at 11 am and the race will start soon after.

Directions to Seavey’s Corner: turn onto Exit Glacier Road, aka Herman Leirer Road, go straight for 1.3 miles then turn right onto Old Exit Glacier Road just before the closed gate. Go another half mile to Seavey’s Corner.

Carpooling is recommended.

There are only two slots left for Race Sponsors at $250 each; contact Dan Seavey at 907-224-3518 to secure a spot. Amateur sled drivers and their alternates will soon be selected for the exciting 2-mile ride behind professional sled dogs. The Mushers’ Mixer for team owners, business representatives, and drivers is scheduled for Friday, March 31st at 6:30 pm at the First National Bank at Fourth and Adams.
