Burn Permits Required April 1st

(Soldotna, AK) – The State of Alaska, Division of Forestry, Kenai-Kodiak Office reminds residents that a new general burn permit is required for all burn barrels and small debris burns beginning April 1st, 2017.  Residents are required to obtain a new 2017 general burn permit, read it in its entirety, sign it, and call the phone number on the permit each day before starting a fire.  Burn permits issued prior to the 2017 season are no longer valid. The general burn permits are free and available at the Kenai-Kodiak Division of Forestry Office in Soldotna, participating businesses/organizations, or can be downloaded and printed from: www.forestry.alaska.gov/burn.

Commercial contractors and others planning on burning piles larger than those allowed under the general burn permit must obtain a large scale commercial burn permit. Large scale burn permits require a site inspection and a burn plan in place prior to the permit being issued. For further information or to schedule a site inspection, please call the Division of Forestry Kenai-Kodiak Fire Prevention Office at 907-260-4260
