USCG Super Hercules on patrol

An impressive US Coast Guard HC-130 flew south over Seward today around 11:30 am. The Lockheed Hercules aircraft has been in the news lately, assisting mariners in distress.

According to the USCG website, the HC-130J is 99′ 7 ” long with a wingspan of 132′ 7″, and stands 38′ 11″ high. It’s maximum weight is 155, 000 pounds. It can cruise at 320 knots with a range of 4,900 miles for over 20+ hours. This aircraft is based at the Coast Guard Air Station in Kodiak.
