City Granted Temporary Use of AVTEC Gym for Basketball League

City LogoSubmitted by Karin Sturdy, Director of Parks & Recreation –

The City of Seward and AVTEC negotiating teams have reached an agreement for use of the AVTEC Gym facility and the Student Services Center, which we feel the public and the City Council will like and approve.  We are optimistic the City Council will authorize the full contract in the very near future. In the meantime, we have requested and received AVTEC’s authorization for temporary use of the gym for the adult basketball league to begin Tuesday, October 18.  The rest of AVTEC’s Student Services Center will remain closed to the public until the Use Agreement is presented to and authorized by the City Council.  All City Council meeting agendas are published in the Clerk’s page at

Basketball team managers will be notified by SPRD staff and managers will notify players of the game schedules.

The league schedules will eventually be posted on in the Parks & Rec tab under Sports & Recreation.
