R/V Sikuliaq in Seward for a few days

SIKULIAQ Stbd Bow ViewThe ship departed it’s home port of Seward on July 4th, 2015. She will only be in port for a couple days as the crew makes ready for the 2016 Arctic season. SIKULIAQ has spent much of the year hosting Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution’s remotely operated vehicle named Jason. Research operations were conducted off the coast of BC, Washington and Oregon. The ROV Jason was used  to service and build the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI) subsurface mooring arrays. Roughly 120 long tons of science gear including Jason were offloaded in Seattle. The ship has been back loaded for it’s operations up north. – Submitted by Steven Hartz
