Rez Art Hosts Andy Baker Acoustic Concert Friday June 24 @7pm

sandra-congas-andy-sings3You are sure to experience an upbeat and fascinating musical journey with the original acoustic rock performance coming to Seward this Friday evening at the Rez Art Coffeehouse at 7pm.

Andy Baker has been touring as a singer-songwriter based out of Anchorage, Alaska since 2002, including opening sets for both John Prine and the Spin Doctors, and numerous large festival stage solo shows. Andy teamed up in early 2016 with percussionist Sandra Calvillo to expand the live show of melodic slice of life original tunes into a dynamic and tight program of acoustic guitar, vocals, congas, bongos and an ever changing splashing of unusual percussion.  Several shows in early 2016 in Anchorage gave invitation to a highly entertaining and well received main stage performance of original songs at this year’s Alaska Folk Festival at Centennial Hall in Juneau.

Baker’s storytelling rapport with the audience, including sing-alongs, is key to the shows, and sets the stage for a roving and rocking escape that harkens to Paul Simon meets Jason Mraz with a world beat reggae influence throughout. Baker also remembers his influential mentors with tribute covers of David Bowie, John Prine, Neil Finn (Crowded House), and Larry Zarella. Baker will perform several songs that won awards in the annual Alaska Public Radio Song Of The Year Contests. The song themes range from musical tour experiences to travel mishaps to love lost and found to social commentary that rings well with teens thru adult audiences.
