Seward High School’s Daily Announcements April 21, 2016

  • Please do not prop the outside doors open after school. Even though it feels warm, there is still a 20 degree difference in temperature and we’re just throwing heat money out the door.


  • The results of a very challenging national trigonometry test that Seward High Precalculus students participated in are back. Congratulations to Joel Williams who scored 10th place out of close to 500 participants in the state of Alaska, and Logan Smith who scored in the top 10% for the state!!


  • The Seward High Drama class will perform the Seussification of Romeo and Juliet tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the high school theater.  Come enjoy this whimsical reinvention of Shakespeare’s tragic love story.  The one-hour performance is open to the public and free of charge!


  • Seward Flyers will meet in Mr. Reising’s room immediately after school on today.


  • Outdoor club will be hiking to Tonsina today!  If you want to come, please be in the art room by 2:45.  The trail might be muddy so wear good shoes!  The sun is shining!


  • KPC offers juniors and seniors the chance to take college credits for only $64 a credit (Fall 2016-Summer 2017) while still in high school! Registration continues 10am-2pm. For more information, contact Jackie Marshall (at 224-2285 or email


  • Interested in making musical instruments from recycled and salvaged materials? There will be a Found Sound workshop after school on Wednesday, April 27th. Please sign up in the office if you are interested. Students and staff are welcome.

  • Prom will be held this Saturday, April 23rd from 8-11pm. The theme is Sunset Beach and prom will be held aboard a Major Marine Tours boat that goes to Thumb Cove. Please be ready to board the vessel at 7:45pm.


  • The KPBSD Distance Learning Program will be offering online classes during a summer session. These will be first-time credit classes. The summer session will begin Wednesday, May 25, 2016 and end Wednesday, August 10, 2016.  Students must have passed all spring term classes to be eligible for the summer session.


  • Looking for some community service hours? Sports & Rec is looking for Pink Cheeks Triathlon volunteers to help them host a successful, safe and fun event.  The triathlon wouldn’t be possible without all the wonderful volunteers.  Please consider helping with this fun community event.   • The City of Seward parks & recreation department is seeking crew members for the ALPAR Litter crew this summer.  The part-time job pays minimum wage, about 20 hours per week.  The job will begin in early June and work through mid-August.  Crew must be age 14 at a minimum.  To apply, see or email


  • Mr. Bickling provides math tutoring in the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Remember – the 5:00 PM bus can get you home if transportation is an issue. Mr. Bickling will open the gym on Mondays at lunch in addition to Young Life’s Tuesday and Thursday schedule.
