KPB Office of Emergency Management Sterling Wildfire Evacuation Update

Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management Release –

The evacuation area has been expanded to include residents living in the area  of Salmon Run Drive to the end of Fisherman’s Road and Dow Island. The evacuation is still active for all subdivisions off of Feuding Lane to Sterling Hwy and Kenai Keys to the Kenai river.

Residents should use caution due to possible smoke and fire apparatus responding in the area.

UPDATE: The temporary shelter has been RELOCATED to the Sterling Community Center, and a shelter has been opened at K-Beach Elementary School. People with pets in kennels may bring pets to the shelter. They should also bring any food and medicine that pets may need.
