Peter Peterson died peacefully on May 11, 2015 in Anchorage in the presence of his sister Barbara Peterson. Pete was born in Seward on June 12, 1952, the oldest of three children, to Andrew (Andy) and Martha Peterson.
Peter served in the Army during the Vietnam War and returned to Seward to work as a longshoreman for over thirty years. Peter retired with a medical disability and spent the past year and a half in Fort Mohave, Arizona. Peter loved the warmth and sun and often took drives to California and Nevada, enjoying the weather and listening to books on tape and CD. He had his favorite routes and restaurants along the way and he thoroughly enjoyed his retirement.
Peter was a kind soul, with many friends. He enjoyed fishing and walking until he developed asthma. Peter enjoyed the entertainment around the Fort Mohave area and he particularly loved driving to Baker, California to eat at Fatburger. He loved the Dallas Cowboys football team and enjoyed watching them play, and he was so happy to be able to drive to Phoenix and watch football games in person.
Pete is survived by his brother Hans Peterson of Seward and sister Barbara Peterson of Anchorage. Peter was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with Peter’s wishes a simple grave side service will be held at the Seward American Legion Cemetery on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 2:00pm.
