WWII history is March 26 topic

Tom Osborne will share his passion for local WWII military history in a Thursday, March 26 program starting at 7 p.m. in the Seward Community Library Museum. Osborne, a member of Resurrection Bay Historical Society, will talk about Fort Raymond, Fort McGilvray and other aspects of the military buildup in the Seward area.

The event is free and open to the public and is part of a series of history programs sponsored by RBHS this winter and spring. The programs are held the fourth Thursday of the month.

Osborne will use charts and maps to accompany his talk. At last fall’s state historical society conference in Seward, visiting historians took a boat trip in Resurrection Bay and heard Osborne describe the military’s harbor defense in the early 1940s.
