Alaskans Vote No on Ballot Measure No. 1. Existing Taxes on Oil Production Remain in Place

With 100 percent of precincts now having reported, Alaska Division of Elections reported on Wednesday at 3:03 p.m. that 52.2 percent of voters rejected attempts to repeal 13SB21, the existing tax structure on oil production that its critics regarded as too low.

Only 31.7 percent of registered voters participated in the election. Of 154,136 total votes cast in the matter of Ballot Measure No. 1, 52.2 percent voted No (retain the law) and 47.8 percent voted Yes (repeal the law).
