Wednesday Evening Comics

Is there a comic artist inside you, just waiting to emerge?  Would you like to learn more about the comics as a genre or as an art form?  Or do you just want to try something new and spend your Wednesday evenings doing something fun and creative?

Join us for a five week comic workshop offered by Kaisa Leino who is visiting Seward from Finland and volunteering at the Alaska SeaLife Center.  Kaisa will be sharing her knowledge and love of comics.  Each week’s workshop will consist of a compact lecture on a different comic-related theme and drawing exercises.  Each class will be an individual exercise, so attending every class is not necessary, however for the last two workshops you will create a SeaLife Center themed comic which will be on display at the Center in August.  Comics created will also be posted to a comic blog.   Prior knowledge about comics or drawing experience is not necessary!  Also please note this class is geared for adults.

When:  Wednesday evenings from July 9th to August 6th, 7-9pm

Where:  Alaska SeaLife Center, Discovery Classroom

Sign up:  Email Kaisa at, class space is limited so please sign up by Tuesday, July 8th

Cost:  Suggested donation for the workshop series is $20.00.

Keep an eye out for an afternoon kids comic workshop coming soon!
