A 29-year old man who attempted to avoid Alaska State Troopers on foot after they attempted to stop his mini four-wheeler at around 10:30 pm July 5th near the intersection of Vinewood Lane and Bruno Road in Stoney Creek turned tragic. He abandoned his four-wheeler after evading troopers. At around midnight, following an extensive search of the area of where he had last been seen on foot, on a hill near Stoney Creek RV Park, troopers found his body at the bottom of a 100- foot cliff.  Seward Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene. He was later  identified as Patrick Wallace, 29 of Houston.

The search party had included numerous troopers from Soldotna, Cooper Landing, and Crown Point, a trooper search dog, and RV campers who reported sightings of the man to the authorities. His death is under investigation, and his body was sent in to the State Medical Examiners office in Anchorage to be autopsied.
