The latest Mt Marathon Race posters are up! View them either in person at the Chamber’s bulletin board at Third and Jefferson, or on-line at <http://mmr.seward.com/results/records/> and <http://mmr.seward.com/results/trivia-facts/>
This year’s Race Facts and Trivia poster features the Marshall family. It’s a family tradition to run. Both Dan and Jackie finished in 70th place this year, and each received an award for their age group time. Michael Marshall won the Junior Boys’ Race in his final Junior race. Another theme is inspiration. Dan Marshall, a dedicated high school coach, has inspired so many fine runners over the years. (See Matt Adams’ story!)
Each and every runner had an inspirational story; it was hard to choose!
Miles Knotek came in 12th as the first local runner in the Senior Men’s race. Allison Barnwell placed 5th as the first local in the Women’s race. Karol Fink placed first in her age group, and continues to serve as a tireless race volunteer. And who hasn’t noticed Nancy Osborne training year round in Seward, regardless of the weather. She also received an award for her age group.
Junior Girls’ Race winner, Allison Ostrander, broke so many records: first girl to finish, Junior Girls’ race record, record 6 consecutive wins, and all 3 Junior Girls’ age group records,
The most inspirational runner was Matthew Kinney, who made a heroic return after his horrific fall in 2012. He finished the race within the time limit, accompanied by his amazing friend and coach Brad Precosky, and dozens of cheering, jubilant friends and supporters.
What a phenomenal finish to a great day!
