At 3pm today, Kenai Fjords National Park staff received a report of a dog stranded on a cliff ledge near the edge of Exit Glacier. It fit the same description of a dog that had been sighted in the Exit Glacier area throughout the weekend that had previously evaded capture. Rangers located the dog and set up a belay system to reach and recover it. After gaining the dog’s trust, the dog was pulled to safety. It was scared and refused to walk, so Ranger John Anderson coaxed her into his backpack and carried her out to the trailhead. Reports are that the dog is recovering well.
