Teachers, Students, and Other Educators: An Opportunity for Partnering in an Ongoing or New Education Program!
As the new Prince William Sound RCAC outreach coordinator, it is my pleasure announce our Fall 2014 Announcement for educators interested in partnering with the Council on a new or ongoing program. Funding through this RFP can assist with educational projects about the Council and topics related to its mission. Funding should be focused on youth and teacher programs in the Exxon Valdez oil spill region.
Proposed topics can include, but are not limited to: citizens’ oversight of industry, environmental impacts of the operation of the Alyeska Marine Terminal in Valdez and its associated oil tankers, oil spill prevention and response planning, environmental monitoring, or other topics related to the Council’s mission.
Past and ongoing projects have included: youth expeditions into the marine environment via sea kayak and other vessels, youth monitoring for aquatic invasive species, public oil spill science discovery labs, travel funding for marine oil spill education programs, website development, K-12 oil spill curriculum development, travel funding for youth presenting at conferences, and other marine stewardship programs for youth and teachers in the Exxon Valdez oil spill region. Project funds of up to $5,000 are available through this competitive RFP process, proposals are due to the Council by no later than June 9, 2014, and all programs should be completed by June 30, 2015.
