Rec Trails funds two ACC trail crew positions

The warm spring conditions have allowed for great early season trail conditions throughout the Caines Head State Recreation Area and the Tonsina Point State Recreation Site. Our trail crew is gearing up and headed out on the bay next week to mobilize for another busy field season.  Ryan O’Leary will be returning for his third season as our Trail Crew Leader.

Our summer objectives include replacing the metal roofing on the Derby Cove and Porcupine Glacier public use cabins, drainage work on the South Beach Trail, log puncheon replacement on the Alpine Trail, and deferred maintenance on the Caines Head Trail near Tonsina Point. We will also be working with the Sierra Club, a 12 person volunteer crew, to stain and seal two of our public use cabins.
