Dry Conditions persist on the Kenai Peninsula

State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources Press Release

Dry Conditions persists on the Kenai Peninsula

(Soldotna, Alaska)  Strong winds and low relative humidity are forecasted for the Kenai Peninsula through

today and into the weekend.  Temperature will moderate a bit but the fire danger remains high/extreme and

the burn suspension will remain in place. This burn suspension includes burn barrels.  A camp fire in an

approved fire ring no larger than three feet across is permissible.  As the sunny and warm weather continues

drying of the grasses and timber, these weather conditions increase the potential for larger fires. The Division

of Forestry is asking all citizens to be careful with their camp fires, make sure you have water handy to

suppress any embers that may escape your fire.
