A small SUV, driven by an elderly woman, jumped the curb and crashed into the Chattermark Restaurant on Fourth Avenue in downtown Seward Saturday afternoon at about 5:00 p.m. It dented the side of the building and broke two large display windows, sending glass shattering into the restaurant and onto the sidewalk. No customers were inside at the time, and the driver was unhurt. Nor were any pedestrians. The car was soon removed from the sidewalk and towed away by Glacier Towing Company. Witnesses said they believe she accidentally pressed down on the gas pedal instead of the brakes while parking.
