Bike Rodeo Letter of Appreciation

May 14, 2014SPRD LOGO

Letter to the Editor:

Seward Parks & Rec would like to thank everyone who helped with the annual Bike Safety Rodeo. With the help of volunteers and contributors the Rodeo was another fun community event.

Thank you to our title sponsor Terry’s Tires and to Shoreside Petroleum, the“Helmet Junction” sponsor.  Both of these businesses give very generous donations to make this event possible.  We appreciate you giving to this as well as so many other community programs.

Thanks to all the other groups and individuals who give of their time, talents and supplies to help us host the Bike Safety Rodeo each year.  Thank you to Stylin’ Stitches, Seward Police Department, Seward Bike Shop, Three Bears, Providence Seward Medical Center, Safe Kids World Wide & Bell Sports

TeganThanks to the Teen & Youth Center’s Council members for showing up in full force to provide the much loved “obstacle course” as well as working the various stations.  Thanks to Connor Spanos, Jacob Wendt, Clay Petersen, Makaira Williams and Egor Sturdy.  Thanks to our volunteers from Providence for providing helmet fitting; Jen Dougherty, Sara McDonald & Cristan McLain.  Huge thanks to Seward’s Bike Shop, Ron Schurman and Karl Mechenberg who provided their services at the Mechanic’s Alley.  The tune-ups you give all those bikes are very much appreciated.  A big thank you to Sean Williams, who graciously volunteered his DJ talents to bring music to the Rodeo.  The tunes added to the festivities of this fun community event.

Thanks to the Seward Police Department and volunteers for providing the bike registration and hosting the yummy “Chuckwagon”!  The hotdogs were cooked to perfection!   Thanks to Chief Tom Clemons, Officer Ken Brockman, Corporal Pat Messmer, and Megan O’Leary.

Congratulations to Tegan Retzer, grade 5, who was the winner of the T-shirt design.  Look for her artwork on over a hundred t-shirts around town this summer.  Nice job Tegan!

Here’s to a fun and safe summer of biking!  Please remember to wear those helmets!
