Rec Com Work Session
The Seward Recreation Committee will hold their regular meeting on Wed, March 5 at 12 noon at the Seward Community Library Museum. The focus of this particular meeting is a work session on the community-wide Recreation Listing or website or resource collection. Members of the public are always invited to attend. Brown bag lunches are encouraged to further enjoy this lunchtime discussion.
The Seward Recreation Committee is an ad-hoc group, appointed by the City Council. They meet the first and third Wednesday of every month. Their mission is to conceive, compile and advance recreation opportunities in the Seward area. The City Clerk’s office is accepting letters of intent to serve on the Rec Com with a deadline of 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 4.

City Cemetery Clean ups
Seward Parks and Recreation declared last year that 2014 will be proclaimed and celebrated as “the year of the cemetery.” The City is seeking volunteers to work on various projects from documentation to rebuilding headstones or specific site clean ups or repairs.
Community members are encouraged and invited into the conversation regarding voluntary compliance with the cemetery rules, regulations and City Ordinances, set in place for record-keeping and to ease care of the facility. Final resting places are usually provided a given amount of respect in each culture. Toward this end, diverse input is encouraged for the focused clean up.
The 2014 emphasis may or may not include projects such as tree or brush removal, re-setting headstones, turf repair, site clean up, site leveling and other projects. Private cemeteries such as the Pioneers, American Legion and the Masons are not targeted by the City, as they each have their own capable volunteers.
For more information, please contact Director Karin Sturdy, 224-4053 or email@example.com
