And to answer the big question that everyone will ask-NO, she will not be delivering any babies in Seward. However, women are welcome to have their deliveries with her in Soldotna at Central Peninsula Hospital.
Dr. Hawthorne is a board certified OB/GYN originally from Greenville, Tennessee with over 25 years of experience. She graduated from The Medical Collage of Georgia and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists.
After visiting Alaska on vacation five years ago, she fell in love with the state. When a position opened at Central Peninsula Hospital, she jumped at the opportunity. Dr. Hawthorne lives in Soldotna and is based out of The Women’s Center of the Peninsula on Binkley Street.
Dr. Hawthorne is able to see women for their reproductive and gynecology needs from the time they are teenagers through late menopause. She is fully capable of taking care of all prenatal needs, unless the pregnancy is high risk and requires the needs of a maternal/fetal specialist. She is able to perform C-sections at Central Peninsula Hospital as needed. Says Dr. Hawthorne “There is nothing more exciting than bringing a baby into the world; it’s a new wonderful being and I get to be the first person to welcome it into the world. After thousands of deliveries, it has never lost its thrill.”
Dr. Hawthorne will be seeing patients at Glacier Family Medicine Clinic, (mile 3.5 Seward Highway, across from Spenard Builders Supply) two days a month. All appointments will be scheduled through her office, The Women’s Center of the Peninsula. Please call 907 260 2622 to schedule an appointment.
