Seward Flood Advisory

Per Weather Service & DHS:

City of Seward and immediate Seward area can expect localized rain and some low elevation snow melt, expect up to 4 inches over 24 hrs but suspect that if drains keep clear there should be minor issues. Expect high elevations to remain stable and absorb most rain with minimal melt.  Expect warm trend to remain during the week.

* UNTIL 400 PM AKST SATURDAY

 

* OVER AN INCH OF RAIN OVERNIGHT COMBINED WITH A HIGH FREEZING

LEVEL THAT IS MELTING SNOW HAS BEGUN TO CAUSE FLOODING IN THE SEWARD

AREA. WHILE THE FREEZING LEVELS WILL BE SLOWLY DROPPING THROUGH

TOMORROW, AN ADDITIONAL 3 TO 4 INCHES OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED WHICH

WILL CONTINUE THE FLOODING AROUND THE SEWARD AREA INTO SATURDAY

AFTERNOON.

 

RAIN WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE PONDING OF WATER IN LOW LYING AREAS…

NEAR CULVERTS…AND ALONG SMALL CREEKS AND DRAINAGES.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

 

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS RIVER OR STREAM FLOWS ARE ELEVATED OR PONDING

OF WATER IN URBAN OR OTHER AREAS IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
