Sandy Sandefur’s family would like to notify all her wonderful friends in Seward of her passing January 7, 2014. Sandy would have been 63 January 11. Sandy was born and raised in Ojai, California on a small farm. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1969.
Tanya, her sister, moved Sandy to Seward in 1979 with her 9 year old son, Danny Sandefur. Her first job was at Seward Trading, and then the police dept. as a dispatcher and for 19 fun years at the Seward Small Boat Harbor as an office assistant, but everyone knew her as the Assistant Harbor Master.
Sandy reunited with her old boyfriend from Ventura Ca. and Bob Warden moved to Seward in 1998. They have been together for 16 years. After Sandy retired in 1999 she sold her house and they jumped into their RV heading south to California then Las Vegas to be near her son and grandsons, Daniel and Garret Sandefur.
Danny and his family moved to Lyons, Oregon and Sandy and Bob followed in 2005. They sold that house in 2012 to take a long RV trip to visit family and friends spread across the mid-west and west coast. She and Bob put on the breaks in Creston, California to retire on her niece’s 40ty acre ranch with their spoiled dogs, Boo-Boo and Sammy.
Sandy has left her best friend and sister, Tanya Sandefur, who lives in Seward the warmer months and travels south in the winter. She also has an older brother, Butch Sandefur, who lives in Ojai, Ca. with his extended family and an older sister, Lora Lee Sandefur Saindon, who also lived in Seward. Lora passed in 2009.
Sandy was always surrounded by her many friends and family members who loved her dearly. We will miss her heaps and will always remember her warm heart, smile and beautiful laugh.
Thank you Sandy’s friends for being a wonderful part of her life.
