SEWARD,  Alaska, 1/21/14  2:00 p.m.

The Seward Police Department has notified the next of kin of Billie Hawke, 57, of Palmer of her disappearance. Hawke was believed to be with Patrick Richard, 51, of Anchorage, who drowned off E-Float in the waters of the Seward Small Boat Harbor, and whose body was discovered by a friend Sunday morning, Jan 19th, when the two failed to show up for their charter bus return trip to Anchorage.

A team of local divers from the Seward Volunteer Fire Department assisted by the Central Emergency Service Dive team spent seven hours of dive-time searching the harbor waters for Hawke on Sunday and Monday, but failed to locate her. They also had help from a cadaver dog, They are weighing their options at this point, including whether to continue the search, said Seward Police Chief Tom Clemons Tuesday afternoon.

Searching for bodies in the harbor is very difficult  so the police can’t make any firm conclusions or conclude its investigation yet, Clemons said.

  • Has there been a picture released of this missing person? A description?

Sure might help if she’s been seen around anywhere. I was headed out of town Saturday morning and saw 2 people hitchhiking. Of course with the rain you’d never be able to say if it was that person, but maybe someone picked her up and gave her a ride?
