17th Annual Tsunami Bowl Needs Volunteers!

NOSBThe 17th Annual Alaska Tsunami Ocean Sciences Bowl will be Thursday February 27th – Sunday March 2nd 2013 and we need volunteers! The Tsunami Bowl is a regional competition for Alaska high schools on topics related to the study of the oceans. Each year, Alaska holds a regional ocean science competition as part of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB).

Sponsored by the University of Alaska Fairbanks, School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, the Alaska Sea Grant College Program, and many others, the goal of this competition is to recognize and reward excellence among student interested in ocean studies.

The ultimate success of the Tsunami bowl requires the efforts of over 100 volunteers and we need your help. Moderators, judges, timers, scorekeepers, food service, personnel coordination, awards preparation, are just some of the positions we need filled. No experience necessary! Please sign up today. We are using VolunteerSpot ( ) to organize all volunteers this year.

This link will take you to the Tsunami Bowl calendar where you can see all the positions that need filled including date, time frame, duties, and how many people for each position. There are contact names and number as well. Volunteer with your friends, family, school, church group or with your co-workers.

We appreciate you donating time to this historic event!
