Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training will be held in Seward beginning Monday, January 6 and will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings as well as during the day Saturday for two weeks from January 6 – January 18, 2014.
The CERT program is designed to help individuals, families, and neighborhoods be prepared for disasters by providing tools such as preparedness, medical operations, fire suppression, light search and rescue, and more. At the completion of the program, participants have the option of joining the Seward CERT team and are available for activation in major events and disasters.
There is no charge for the class and no commitment required. The class focus is on practical size-up and safety skills including how to shut off utilities, put out small fires, perform light search and rescue and provide emergency first aid. The class is ability oriented and open to teens through seniors.
