A Season of Gratitude and Giving in Our Community

Dear Friends of Seward and Moose Pass,

Did you know that you can make a difference in our community?   Show your friends, neighbors and community you care by supporting our local nonprofit organizations with a year-end donation to the Seward Community Foundation.  Your tax-deductible donation will help provide grants to numerous nonprofits throughout the coming years.

An amazing thing about a community foundation is that your donation is never spent!  Only the earnings from the endowment fund are distributed for local needs. This means that your gift continues to give year after year and your money stays here in our communities.  All proceeds go to the citizens of Seward and Moose Pass.

Through the generosity of folks like you, the Seward Community Foundation has funded 84 grants worth $125,000 to 29 local nonprofit agencies since it’s founding just five years ago.  So far, in 2013, we have awarded $49,000 in grants but we received requests of $81,757.  As you can see, the community’s need is greater than our capacity.  That is why it is so important that all of us continue to build our endowment fund.

SCF’s goal this year is to raise $18,000 and to meet a matching challenge of $10,000 from the Rasmuson Foundation.  If we can do this, they will also donate an additional $2,500 for SCF to grant to local nonprofits.  Make your dollars count even more by making a donation before the end of the year!  We have $3,885 to go to meet our goal and with your help I believe we can do it.

It is a privilege to partner with you to make a positive, lasting change in our community.  Together, we are connecting people who care with causes that matter.  In this season of goodwill toward men, all of us at the Seward Community Foundation wish you a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Kim Reierson, President
