Seward hosted numerous firefighters from across the state this week, Oct 8-10 for a training, sponsored by the Prince William Sound Regional Citizens Advisory Council and with financial help from the State DHS&EM. AVTEC Marine Training Center, Seward Harbor and Seward Volunteer Fire Department, four independent vessels at the Small Boat Harbor including Kenai Fjords vessels, a Cook Inlet tugboat, the Seward Fire Boat John L. Foster, and the Bering Explorer, a 100-foot arctic research vessel, lent themselves to the fire training, and trainers came from across the U.S. and Vancouver to teach them. Other sponsors include the Seward Chamber of Commerce, Seward Fire Department, Fire Protection Publications/International Fire Service Training Association, Crowley, Kenai Fjords Tours, Foss/Anderson Tug, Scott Safety/Eagle Enterprises and Resolve Marine.
