November approaches once again. That means across the nation, 300,000 people will take up the challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.
For many years, as a sane and right thinking person, I scoffed at the idea of National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo for short.) It seemed like an invitation to sleep deprivation and maybe even self-torture.
Last year though, I tried it for the first time, and it was a month long party in my head.
If you have an idea for a book percolating in your head, but you can never find the time to write it down, I urge you to take up the challenge of NaNoWriMo with other Sewardites.
Once again the Seward Community Library Museum will offer the Come Write In program throughout the month of November, where people who have taken up the 30 day writing challenge will have access to freshly brewed, high quality caffeine from Raven’s Brew Coffee and an OWL laptop whenever we’re open. (And sometimes when we’re not.)
If you’re curious, come to the NaNoWriMo Kick-off party in the Library stacks Friday evening November 1st from 6:00 to 8:30. There will be coffee, camaraderie, and prizes as we go through an introduction to the 2013 Come Write In program.
