You never know what might just show up in Seward on the weekend. Saturday, customers at the Resurrect Arts Coffee Shop and Gallery were treated to the Northern Aurora Flute Ensemble. The mellifluous tones of the flute ensemble, coming from this tight quartet of seasoned players sounded like angels wings fluttering. So wonderfully calming and pleasant. It was amazing to hear the variety of different flutes there are, from the piercingly high piccolo to the alto and bass flutes.
I especially enjoyed hearing the low, mellow tones of the bass flute, played by Barbara Eberhart. All of these women teach flute to students of all levels in Anchorage. They would welcome the opportunity to visit the schools here for instructional in-school performances if invited, as they do in Anchorage. “That’s what we’re all about,” said Eberhart.
