Seward Music and Arts Festival is beginning today, Friday September 27th at 5pm and continues through Sunday at 5pm!
This year’s festival is especially important; we are honoring the lives of Jessi Nelsen and her boyfriend Rob Lilly as we celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Festival. Jessi was born and raised here in Seward and this community was very important to her. She loved seeing live music and bringing music here to Seward, starting in high school when she brought up a live band to play for the prom. The Seward Music & Arts Festival was especially important to Jessi, she spent innumerable hours working to make it a special event, contacting musicians from around the state and country to make for a perfect, fun, and well balanced weekend. She lined up all the acts that will be playing here for the 2013th Music Festival.
Jessi and Rob got together 2 years ago at the 2011 Music and Arts Festival and had been going on strong ever since. Rob grew up outside Wasilla and was the drummer for the band Goat Rodeo which played the fest that year. He was the man in black, known as “Black Rob” and a talented skateboarder. Both of them loved motorcycles, music and flying around the state.
We hope everyone can come and have a good time this weekend while celebrating our friends Jessi and Rob.
