Yummy Fundraiser for Sewards Gift to Our Sister City

The Seward Arts Council Presents a Seward Mural Society fundraiser for the Obihiro Mural Project. In collaboration with local restaurants, we are organizing a Master Chef Competition. We are excited to raise money, expand awareness for the Obihiro mural, while encouraging the public to frequent local restaurants and support their favorite chefs! How can you participate? Eat at any of these eight Seward restaurants in the month of August, order the Obihiro Special and 10% of the profit will go toward the Obihiro mural.

September of 2013 The City of Seward is sending eight delegates to Obihiro, Japan to paint a mural. The Obihiro Mural Project is a special gift from the City of Seward reflecting a long tradition of cultural exchange with our sister city of Obihiro Japan. Local artists from Alaska and Japan will collaborate on the mural “Friendship Across the Water” designed by Justine Pechuzal.

The Obihiro Mural Project is four years in the making. The City of Seward is partnering with Seward Mural Society to make this dream a reality. Seward artist’ are honored to share their expertise in creating public art that educates and amuses its viewers, transcending language and culture.

There is friendship and connection across water.
