Silver Salmon Derby Update

Press Release from the Seward Chamber of Commerce

As The 58th Seward Silver Salmon Derby passes the halfway mark, the average Silver salmon being weighed is 9.5 lbs. The weather broke Tuesday night and has been faring well for all of the anglers. Reports from happy anglers include excellent fishing weather and plenty of nice fat, feisty Silvers.

Top 10 standings as of 8/15/2013:

Don Childs of Wasilla, AK caught his 17.13 lb Coho at Thumb Cove on Monday.  In second place is Steve Anderson from Anchorage, AK with a 16.92 pounder caught on Wednesday at Caines Head.  Third place currently goes to Richard Jensen from Palmer, AK and his 16.67 Coho caught south of Thumb Cove on Sunday.  Rounding out the Leader Board:

4th Place 16.45 Renee James, Wasilla, AK

5th Place 16.34 (Tie) Joe Lima,  Anchorage, AK


6th Place 16.34(Tie) Ken Pultier, Palmer, AK

7th Place 16.19 Laura Wilson, Girdwood, AK

8th Place  16.05 Nick Hunter, Anchorage AK

9th Place 15.95 James Unrein, Seward, AK

10th Place 15.92 Roger Stoltz, Seward, AK

Derby ends at noon on Sunday, August 18th.  The Awards Ceremony follows at The Breeze Inn at 5:00 pm.
