ELITE 9 will release their first CD “You Don’t Even Have to Lift” on June 15th 7:30pm at the Seward Brew House! The ELITE 9 jazz band has been performing in south central Alaska since 1999 currently consisting of vocalist (Linnea Hollingsworth), trombone (Paul Hettwer), guitar (Mark Teckenbrock) and bass (Daryl Hollingsworth). All Seward residents they performing their own compositions along with standard tunes in a variety of jazz styles

ELITE 9 will also do a special One-For-The-Road concert at the Tap Root Sunday the 9th at 6 pm before they go home. Vocalist Linnea Hollingsworth born and raised in Seward, comes from a musical family. She grew up singing in church, school and community events. She attended UAA as a drama major with emphasis on musicals, concentrating on vocal studies. She is currently active in the Seward Arts Council and is the Artistic Director of the Port City Players.
Trombone is played by Paul Hettwer who studied music education at Lewis and Clark University in Portland Oregon. There he was a professional musician performing with the 234th Army Band, The Portland Opera, Glenn Miller Band and many others. He taught music in the Seward Public Schools for five years.
Guitarist Mark Teckenbrock has been actively involved in the Alaska music scene for 15 years. One of the original members of Elite 9. He is the founding organizer of the Annual Seward Music And Arts Festival, Seward Arts Council Concert Series, Alaska Song Of The Year Contest and he teaches guitar, bass, drums and music theory at his Boreal Clef Music School.
On string bass and bass guitar Daryl Hollingsworth has been performing music for 46 years. He grew up playing in rock bands, but studied jazz and classical, majoring in string bass performance at Wichita State University. Daryl has toured with several bands including the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Jerry Hahn Quartet.
