New Programming Club!
If you are in middle or high school, consider becoming a member of Seward’s own computer coding club and learn how to code! We will begin after Spring Break. More details will be advertised in the schools and on Seward City News soon. We will be using a variety of resources to teach computer programming, depending on age, experience, and interest. If you’re interested, join the group, and find out more by visiting these links.

Tell Mrs. Ray to clean up her facebook link – not connected. The “club” is a good start at any age.

Fixed. Thanks for the heads up on that!

Hello Mrs Ray,
I am the developer/dba at AVTEC and recently taught a small group of HS students how to code. We started with an intro to scripting using JavaScript, but the fun really began when I showed them Kodu. Go here: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/kodu/

Awesome! Thanks Steve!

I had no idea this was being established in Seward schools. Good on you.
This has been making the internet rounds but maybe others like me need to learn the basics of this exciting trend in k-12 education.

Thanks Ron! I have seen that fantastic video, and I also gathered many of my ideas for our club from http://www.code.org. I have now added the video you posted to the club’s blog at http://sewardcodeclub.wordpress.com/whycode/. Anyone interested is welcome to check out our blog. In fact, I just posted an interest survey and will be advertising that soon. We’d like to start the club soon after spring break and need to get the word out (and kids signed up).
