Foraker Group Training Focuses on Board Roles and Responsibilities
Are you looking for helpful information about your service on the board of a local nonprofit? Do you wish you had a fuller understanding of your role as a board member or want to mentor new board candidates? Do you hold the staff leadership position at a non-profit and wonder how you can better partner with your board? This class offers important information for you whether you are a well-seasoned or first-time board member. In a short amount of time, you will learn:
• The roles and responsibilities of board members
• The key differences between staff and board responsibilities
• How different types of boards are configured and function
• How your organization fits in context with other Alaska nonprofits
When you leave this class, you will better understand the board’s role in helping your organization accomplish its mission. Dennis McMillian, President of The Foraker Group, will be teaching the class.
This class will be taught at the Seward Library on April 4th from 6 – 8 pm, and is open to all local organizations. The cost to Foraker members is $25 per attendee. Non-member cost is $65 per attendee. The Seward Community Foundation will reimburse $40 per attendee for up to four representatives from Seward/Moose Pass organizations that are not Foraker members.
