Boardwalk Closed For Repairs
SPRD Bulletin…
The wooden Lagoon Dale B. Clemens memorial boardwalk on the West side of the Seward Highway has been closed for the winter.
A structural assessment conducted by Schneider Structural Engineers has determined that the boardwalk is not safe for public use.
Winter snow compounds the public safety issues.
An alternate public walking route may be accessible (weather dependent) on the state, paved bike trail, on the East side of the Seward Highway or Third Avenue.
Sidewalks on 4th Avenue are another alternative.
The city will be researching materials costs and construction costs of the engineer‘s repair recommendations in order to bring a project budget forward to City Council. If you have questions about this project or other parks maintenance issues, please call 224.4055.

It would be lovely if the sidewalks on third avenue COULD be utilized, but it usually takes a number of calls, emails, dire threats and histrionics before DOT will clear them of their snow. They started off well by plowing to the center of the street, but gave that up pretty quick. Just plan on walking in traffic.
